February Travels…

By , 10 February, 2013, No Comment

Another week of adventures as I roam the lower mainland…Scrapbook Warehouse has an amazing assortment of Impression Obsession stamps that I simply HAD to add to my collection!
Making Memories on Hastings has put together some totally awesome Monthly Page kits for your scrapbooks, and I can’t seem to get “July” out of my head…I think I need to snatch it up!
Paper Cafe really know their Vintage, and there were quite a few pieces I wanted to sneak into my car!
Teaching at Scrapbook City is a challenge, as I have trouble keeping my mind on the class as I’m admiring all the embossing folders, 3D card kits and stickers all around me!
The ladies kept me hopping at Cherry Lane, moving from one technique to another during our Dylusion’s Demo, and of course teaching my first class today at Precious Memories was SO much fun!  Though Amy had to drag Tanya away as I wouldn’t stop chatting…maybe I have to tell them the story about when I was a Sales Rep and there was a shop that used to bribe me with Homemade fudge when they were done with me…”Jessie, would you like some Baileys fudge before you go…free?”  Yup, I got the message, and it worked, I stopped talking…a mouth full of fudge works every time, tee hee.

Anyway, I can’t believe that it’s only been a month since we closed Cherish, as all the stores have been so welcoming to me that I feel like I’ve been teaching in their workshops forever, and I truly hope that you’ve made it out to a few stores yourself!

Don’t forget to Scatter Joy!

Hi Everybody,

We’re almost halfway through the summer and hopefully all enjoying everything that summer brings?  Happy Sunny days, Uplifted Moods, Suntanned Skin, Mosquito bites, sigh.  Oh well, they aren’t here for long!

Andrew, Ella and I have been lucky enough to get some time to go swimming together a few times this summer, and we went again last night.  We’ve got Water wings for Ella, and I just bought her a flutter board so she can gain her balance with her upper body and learn to kick her legs.  Well!  We weren’t in the pool more than a half an hour when she flung the flutter board aside and decided that she wanted to swim “BY MYSELF” to the other side of the pool.  NOT the other side width wise, the other side length wise!  Well, Andrew and I swam on either side of her, and she went from the stairs at the shallow end to the steps at the deep end ALL BY HERSELF!!  And then she went back again!  She repeated this about 6 more times (I say “about” because she would change her mind in the middle of the pool, turn around and swim back the way she’d come, so it was hard to keep track of how many lengths she’d done!)

We were quite surprised by her ability to go for so long, but we paid for it when we got home and a tired, cranky princess took over my daughter’s body!  Next time we won’t swim for so long, we’ve learned our lesson, tee hee.

Hi Everybody,

If you’ve had a chance to come in for a visit over the past few weeks then you’ve already felt the change around here!  With one little decision comes a flood of emotions that frankly has surprised me.  I feel as though I’ve been away somewhere and am finally coming home, and I’m sure you’ve all felt it too when you’ve been in for our Saturday Neat ‘Nique or our fabulous classes!

Our upcoming technique classes are blowing my mind!  And more are being added daily!  We’ve got many of the samples posted on the website, but you know they look even better in person.  We’ve also got samples of our Cruise classes, our BC Crop for Kids classes, and our Be Creative Expo classes in the store for a sneak peek too, so you can see we’ve been busy, busy, busy.

Hi Everybody,

I know, I’m late, again, but it’s been a heck of a week.  I blew my car engine…getting an Ice Cap…well, not by actually getting one, but on the way to getting one, sigh.  Timing belt broke and thrust my piston through the head of my engine.  She’s toast.  So needless to say, my focus was elsewhere this week, however, those of you that have had any sort of conversation with me know that I believe that things happen for a reason, and this situation was just another moment to learn a lesson.

1.  Keep your coolant reservoir full.
2.  Sometimes stopping, reflecting, and being IN the moment helps you to see things clearly.
3.  It’s really hard to get someone to help you with your car even though the hood is up, the hazards are on, and I’m standing with a set of jumper cables in my hand, obviously in need.

Many of you have come in during the last week, to let me know that you support my decision to Right-Size the store, and your comments mean ever so much to me!  I’ve said it before, and I will continue to say it, Cherish will be built on the comments of customers, as I change things based on what many of you tell me you wish stores would do or offer.

We include envelopes in EVERY Card Class because you told me that’s what you want.  We DON’T cancel classes when there is only one person signed up, we just give you what we fondly call a “Custom Class”.  We offer kits for our classes if you can’t make the date, and will even set up a time at YOUR convenience to complete the kit here if you like.  All of these things make Cherish YOUR store, and make Cherish unlike any other retail business out there.

Hi Everybody,

Well, we’ve done it, Andrew is officially a Scrapbooker.  Yes, he created his first 12 x 12 Scrapbook page, and it wasn’t Scrap-lifted, it came right from his imagination!  I don’t mean that as a dig, because if you’ve followed my newsletter, you know that I am a Self-confessed Scrap-lifter, and the thought of designing a whole page without magazines around for inspiration make me shudder!  I have said to him, as I say to all of you, Journaling MUST be done for the page to be complete, otherwise how does anyone know that YOU were actually at that Nine Inch Nails concert?  Well, maybe YOU weren’t, but he was, tee hee.  So he was published in Canadian Scrapbooker Spring 2009, he’s taught a card class at Cherish, and now he’s created his first layout, I think he’s caught the bug, don’t you…?
